Surface Transportation
EKA has significant experience working on high profile surface transportation projects at regional transportation agencies in Southern California, including the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink), and Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). EKA works on all modes — both transit (light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, subway, bus, etc.) and highway (street, road, highway, freeway, express lanes, toll road, etc.) — and services (planning, design, construction, project management, and operations and maintenance).
EKA Senior Vice President Jaime de la Vega has held multiple senior level transportation positions in local government, including Chief Executive Officer of LADOT, Metro Board of Directors, Metrolink Board of Directors and Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Transportation. His experience encompasses all aspects of public sector decision making: legislator (director), executive (department/agency), and political advisor.
EKA has represented a broad range of companies before regional transportation agencies, including: major public works construction companies; vertical construction companies; public private partnership (P3) joint ventures; architectural and engineering firms; transportation operators; hardware and software vendors; transportation-specific service and technology providers; developers; railroad companies; taxi companies; municipalities and multi-jurisdictional coalitions; and new mobility companies (transportation network companies (TNC), shared bicycles, and electronic scooters).
Our team has extensive experience working on complex procurements, business development, strategy development and implementation, relationship building, and reputation protection and repair. Our experience includes developing and executing procurements — including request for qualifications (RFQ) and request for proposals (RFP) — in the public sector as well as representing private companies pursuing competitive opportunities at transportation agencies.
