Englander Knabe & Allen and AP Triton Consulting Announce Joint Venture Partnership

Los Angeles, May 6, 2019 – Englander Knabe & Allen (EKA, a nationally recognized strategic communications firm specializing in public and private sector services, announced the establishment of a joint venture partnership with AP Triton Consulting, LLC, the leader in fire safety, deployment studies, EMS system review, fire prevention services and cost recovery and revenue management services.

AP Triton CEO and Managing Partner Mike DuRee, who served as Long Beach Fire Chief until his retirement in 2018, will lead the AP Triton team.  AP Triton was formed in 2014 by retired Fire Chief Kurt Henke and retired Assistant Fire Chief Scott Clough. The 3 partners have over 90 years of experience in the Fire Service, including the delivery of emergency medical services and all-risk fire/emergency response.

The joint firm draws on the complementary strengths of the two firms: AP Triton’s consulting services to cities, counties, special districts, as well as public, private and industrial providers of EMS and fire services with EKA’s government affairs, political campaigns, reputation and crisis communications, association management and litigation support capabilities.

“We are excited to add AP Triton’s talents and relationships to the EKA family. This partnership will enhance several areas where our firm is already well positioned,” said EKA Managing Partner Matt Knabe. “AP Triton is widely viewed as the industry leader in fire life safety for development, land use and events. They provide consulting services for ambulance and EMS billing systems, in addition to data collection, quality improvement, compliance programs and public-private partnerships.

“We are proud to join forces with EKA. This new partnership is an exciting opportunity for both organizations to combine our talent and experience to assist clients with specific government and fire service needs. We look forward to the benefits this partnership will bring,” said Mike DuRee.

“The partnership will enhance our public safety practice. For three decades, Chief DuRee was an instrumental part of both labor and management, serving as President and Vice President of the Firefighters Association prior to moving up the management ranks. Mike served as President of the Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs Association, President of the California Fire Chiefs Association, and EMS Section Chair of the International Association of Metropolitan Fire Chiefs, representing over 300 Fire Chiefs from the largest Fire Departments worldwide,” added Knabe.

Prior to becoming the Fire Chief of California’s seventh largest fire department, Chief Henke served as Union President of one of the state’s largest labor groups, serving multiple cities and Districts.  In addition, he was the Chairman of the California Metropolitan Fire Chiefs.  “Chief Clough is most noted for his work in creating California’s Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GEMT) program.  He is currently involved in establishing similar programs in Oregon, Washington, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Alaska.  We look forward to the benefits this partnership will bring to our clients,” concluded Knabe.
